May 26, 2004- Emma's story

May 26, 2004 was a warm day and Dougie, Emma and I were looking forward to spending the day at the pool. This was during my single mom days and I was trying to get both kids ready to go. Emma was dressed and was waiting downstairs while Dougie and I were upstairs. As I did often (and still do), I had praise music playing on the computer and had it turned loud enough to hear it throughout the house.
As Dougie and I headed down the stairs, Emma was standing at the bottom of the stairs and I will never forget the look on her sweet 6 year old face. It was a mixture of fear and excitement. She had her little hand on her chest and I immediately asked her, "what's wrong?" She looked at me wide-eyed and said, "I just asked Jesus into my heart!"
I took her in my arms and wanting to hear it in her own words, I asked her to tell me what happened. This is what she told me, " I was listening to the song and I knew in my heart that I had sinned. So I said, "God and Jesus, I'm sorry and I want you to come into my heart."

I know with all my heart that at the tender age of six, Emma had a life changing encounter with her Savior. She didn't need an adult to tell her how to surrender her life to Him, she just followed the leading of her heavenly Father.

Happy 5th 'birthday' Emma. My prayer is that you will always follow God's leading in your life.

I love you so much!

I don't have anything specific to blog about today, just several random things. I'm sure you can understand my inability to blog lately, we're getting settled and Asher is doing great. He's still getting up about every 3 hours at night to eat but he's great about going back to sleep as soon as he's done. So I really can't complain.

Caleb has been saying some very funny things lately, his vocabulary is amazing. Here's just a few:

The other night he said to me, "Mommy, I need to ask you a question." Y'all, he's 2!

Coming home last night, he said to his OLDER brother, "Dougie, CHILL."

I was tickling Caleb the other night, and he responded by saying, "that is hilarious!"

Anytime you correct Caleb or try to tell him something, his response is, "Well" but he pronounces it like "whale!"

And the funniest is a conversation we had last week:

Caleb: "Mommy, am I potty trained?"
Me: "No, you're not."
Caleb: "But Mommy, I want to be on the potty train!"

So now whenever we ask if he wants to go potty, we make some reference to getting on the potty train. It takes everything in me to keep from busting out with:
"Come on ride the train and ride it..."
Don't judge me, I did go to college in the 90's!!!

Dougie finished his baseball season this past week. His team went 9 and 3. WOOHOO! It was a great season and Dougie really enjoyed playing first base this year. The coaches really wanted him to play on the All-Star team but we chose **gasp** not to let him. Think what you may but we just feel that at this age, it's best not to be so focused on playing a sport. It's all about balance!
Anyway, the kids are out of school and we've got a busy summer ahead of us. But the next couple of weeks are pretty quiet and I for one can't wait just to sleep in late, lounge around and hang out by a pool.

So what's up with you? Leave me a comment and tell me what's your plans for this summer!

You can thank Grandma.....

My mom asked for some updated pictures so you're going to get them!

The first picture is of a very unusual creature that has taken up residence in our carport. Caleb was fascinated by it!

"The Boys" Dougie-8, Caleb-2, Asher- 3 weeks

Just brief update. Asher spent the last few days in the hospital. He spiked a temp of 101.7 Saturday night, so we took him to the emergency room. They got his temp down, it looked like he was getting an ear infection, so the ER doc. gave us a prescription and sent us home.
When our pediatrician found out on Sunday that the ER doc sent us home (remember: small town, everybody know everything!) he was very upset. He called and asked us to bring Asher back to the hospital so he could be admitted and they could run some tests.
To make a long story short, they ran all kinds of tests, keep us in the hospital until today and everything checked out just fine. He hasn't run a fever since Saturday and he is perfectly healthy.

Now I would just like to say:
Drama you may leave now, you have definitely overstayed your welcome.
